Quote 33 - The Vision of the True Prophet Isaiah

The World’s Sourcebook of Compassion, Kindness and Peace

It is forbidden to delay in breaking the Shabboth laws in the case of someone who is sick or in danger, as it is written, “[And you shall guard My decrees and My laws] which by doing them, a man shall truly live through them.” Here you learn that the laws of the Torah are not a force of vengeance in the world, but rather a source of compassion, kindness, and peace in the world.

(RaMBaM [Rav Moshe ben Maimon, 1135-1204], Mishneh Torah, Laws of Shabboth 2:3) ¹
